Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Supreme Assembly to Be Launched in South Africa

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Head of Al-Mustafa International University’s branch in Johannesburg said that an Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) Supreme Assembly is planned to be established in South Africa.

 

Hojat-ol-Islam Mohsen Radmard told IQNA that the plan was discussed in a two-day conference recently held in the city with the participation of intellectuals, elites and Shia scholars from all over the country.

The activities of the assembly will include long-term planning for promotion of Shia Muslims’ status, representing Shias in government and interfaith activities, promoting religious-cultural activities and educational programs, developing economic and welfare conditions and solving the problems of Shia Muslims, he said.

Elsehwere, he referred to the activities of the university’s branch in Johannesburg, and said that Quran and Hadith sciences feature the main course presented at the academic center.

Students from seven neighboring countries, namely Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Lesotho, Botswana, Malawi and Tanzania have taken the course at the university’s branch in Johannesburg, the cleric stated.

He added that the branch also cooperates with 15 centers in the country in disseminating Islamic teachings and holding Quranic programs and ceremonies on various religious occasions as well as holding  congregational prayers which are organized under the supervision of the representative of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) World Assembly.

Holding special programs in the holy month of Ramadan and in Muharram as well as programs for Iranians residing in the African country are among the activities of the university, he said.

Hojat-ol-Islam Radmard added that the students and graduates get involved in disseminating Islamic and Quranic teachings on religious occasions.

The branch has also used social media networks to present Quran interpretation, Hadith issues and religious clips, he went on to say.

Al-Mustafa University as an international academic, Islamic and seminary institute and an institute carrying the title of the blessing last prophet, Mohammad (PBUH), has set the followings as its chief activities, i.e. fulfilling the needs of the thirsty for knowledge and disseminating Islamic teachings.

Instructing jurists, researchers, teachers, preachers, and pious and committed Muslim thinkers, clarifying and expanding the Quranic and Islamic viewpoints and disseminating Islamic theories, divine teachings and humanities knowledge are the main objectives of the university.
