-- The Tarjaman-e-Vahey (translation of revelation) Institute has provided visitors of the 18th Tehran International Quran Exhibition information about the world’s most important Quran translation centers.
According to Iranian Quran News Agency from Imam Khomeini Mosalla (prayer hall), where the 18th International Holy Quran exhibition is underway, activities and programs of five Quran translation and publishing centers have been presented to the public during the holy month of Ramadan. The centers, which are located in India, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Iran, are as follows:

International Islamic Publication: this center is affiliated to Ahmadiah religious sect, which was founded by Mirza Ahmad Ghadiani (1839-1908) in Ghadian city of India in 1889.

International Islamic Organization: it is a religious center belonging to the Libyan government. It was established in 1972 under the name of Al-Daavah with the purpose of educating religious preachers and sending them to the rest of the world so as to expand Islamic teachings. As many as 250 Islamic institutes and organizations from all over the world are actively in contact with this center and some are financially supported by it. Up to 12 Quran translations in 10 languages have been so far published by the center.

Malik Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran: it was established by the former King of Saudi Arabia, Malik Fahd, in 1984. The center, which is as large as 250000 square meters, is run by Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Islamic Affairs. According to its managers, over 165 million copies of the Noble Quran in Arabic and some other languages have been published and distributed to the world by the complex. It has the capacity to publish more than 10 million copies each year.

Tarjoman-e-Vahey Institute: it is considered to be one of the world most significant centers of Quran translation. The center was created by Iran’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization in cooperation with the Islamic Culture and Guidance Ministry. Its objective is to provide correct, clear and eloquent Quran translations.

Collecting more than 5300 different Quran translations in 112 languages rendered by almost 1200 translators, and setting up an archive containing articles and theories related to Quran translation are two examples of Tarjoman-e-Vahey Institute’s acheivements.

The center has offered translations of the Holy Quran into foreign languages including English, French, Spanish, Turkish, Azeri, and Chinese. Some of them have been published in the USA, France, China, Britain, Canada, India, and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

Al-Azhar University: it is one of the high profile centers of Quran translation in the world and is located in Egypt. Most translations in this country are done by either Awqaf Ministry or Al-Azhar University. All translations, except for those into the English language, are based on Montasar-ul-Montakhab Exegesis, which is carried out by a group of Scholars working at Egypt’s Islamic Affairs Assembly.
