Speaking to IQNA, he underlined that students participating in the international Quranic event help to enhance Islamic solidarity and unity.

He referred to the plots hatched to foment Islamophobia, Shiaphobia and Iranophobia in the world, and said organizing such events as the international Muslim students Quran contest can help dispel the myths and thwart negative propaganda against Iran and Islam.

When students from other countries attend the contest and see for themselves that Iranian Shia and Sunni Muslims live together with peace and respect for one another, they realize the baselessness of all the negative propaganda against Iran, he stated.

They see that the followers of Ahl-ul-Bayt (AS) are fully capable of developing and promoting the teachings of the Quran and that the message of Iran is one of strengthened unity and solidarity in the Muslim wolrd. He underlined.

Safarkhani also pointed to the host city of the 2017 edition of the competition, namely Mashhad, and said organizing the event in the holy city, where the mausoleum of Imam Reza (AS) is located, will multiply the blessings and achievements of the event.

It is also an opportunity to introduce to foreign Muslim students the precious capacities of the holy city and Astan Quds Razavi (custodianship of Imam Reza hoy shrine) and the valuable cultural and scholarly works done by the Astan.

The 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students is slated to be held in Mashhad, northeast of Iran, on January 30- February 3, 2017.

Quran memorizers and reciters from among Muslim university students of different countries are expected to take part in this edition of the contest.

The Iranian Academics Quranic Activities Organization, affiliated to the Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research, has organized the competition biennially since 2006 with the aim of fostering unity and cooperation among Muslim world students and elevating the level of Quranic activities.
