According to the website of the Dar-ol-Quran of the holy shrine’s Astan (custodianship), "Karbala International Holy Quran Award and Sciences” is the title of the competition.

Sheikh Hassan Al-Mansouri, the director of the Quranic center, said the contest will be held in line with the development of Quranic activities in Iraq, particularly the great Quranic projects conducted in the holy sites of the country.

He said the main objective of the center is to identify Quranic talents of Iraq and the Muslim world.

The top ranks won by Iraqi representatives at international Quran competitions proves the fact that the number of Quranic talents and elites is increasing in the country and the Muslim world, he added.

The Dar-ol-Quran center has formed committees to set the criteria for participation in the competition.

Quranic activities have significantly developed in Iraq since the 2003 overthrow of former dictator Saddam Hussein.

There has been a growing trend of Quranic programs such as competitions, recitation sessions and educational programs held in the country in recent years.
