Properly Understanding Quran Important for Countering Extremism
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Egypt’s minister of Awqaf (endowments) and religious affairs said understanding the Holy Quran properly plays an important role in countering extremism.
In an article published on the website of the ministry, Mohamed Mokhtar Gomaa, highlighted different aspects of the Quran’s eloquence, articulacy and miracles, and said understanding these aspects helps to promote faith, ethical and human values.
He added that helping the youth learn about these values and acquire a correct understanding of the verses of the Quran will play an important part in preventing the spread of extremist ideologies and deviated thoughts, al-Yawm al-Jadid daily reported.
Gomaa went on to stress that in order to properly comprehend the meaning of the text of the Quran, one needs to not only know the Arabic language but also be familiar with the Hadiths and different aspects of the Quran’s eloquence and miracles.
