TEHRAN (IQNA) – Maryam Shafiei, a memorizer of the entire Quran who has been named Iran’s representative in Jordan international Quran competition said she is well prepared for the contest.

Speaking to Fars, Shafiei said she had practiced her Quranic skills for a year before winning the second title in Iran’s national Quran competition a few months ago.

“I will continue my efforts to have a successful presence in Jordan’s contest,” she added.

Shafiei said she will review the verses both by reading them and listening to recitations by prominent Qaris.

She said she started learning the Quran by heart at the age of 6 by listening to recorded Quran recitations and managed to memorize the entire Holy Book in a few years.

Shafiei, who is from the city of from Eyvan in the western province of Ilam, is a visually-impaired memorizer of the Quran.

Her brother is going to accompany her to Jordan.

Jordan’s 2018 international Quran competition is slated to be held in the Arab country’s capital, Amman, from March 19 to 24.
