Eleven-year-old Nurya Sariakaya, who lives in the city of Duisburg has been very keen on learning the Quran, according to Anadolu Agency.

She took part in Quranic classes in the city a few months ago and managed to learn reading the Quran in a short period of time.

Nurya, who is of Turkish descent, reads the Quran using braille copies of the Holy Book.

She is now going to start learning the Quran by heart and become a Hafiz (memorizer).

Braille is a writing system which enables the blind and partially-sighted people to read and write through touch.

It was invented by Louis Braille (1809-1852), who was blind and became a teacher of the blind.

In recent years, the Holy Quran and religious books have been printed in Braille to help the visually-impaired Muslims read the texts with ease.
