Speaking at a radio program on Saturday, Hojat-ol-Islam Mohammad Abdollahian said those selected to be honored at the event are both Iranians and women Quran activists from a number of other countries.
He said that like previous years, more than 1,700 Quranc women attend the gathering, which is aimed at promoting Quranic activities among women, in families and in society.
The cleric noted that the Imam Reza (AS) Quranic institute has been organizing the Quranic congress over the past years.
This year’s congress will be held in the holy city of Mashhad, northeast of Iran, he added.
According to Hojat-ol-Islam Abdollahian, one of the main fruits of the event is collecting Quranic theses and dissertations of women.
He said some 21,000 such theses have been collected so far and are available to researchers at the website of the institute.
