Quranic Institute Launched in Burkina Faso
The Warith al-Anbia institute was opened in Bobo Dioulasso, the African country’s second largest city, according to the website of the Astan.
It is a branch of the Karbala-based Warith al-Anbia institute that is active in training Quran activists and religious preachers.
A delegation from the Astan was in Burkina Faso for the inauguration of the branch.
In August last year, the first branch of the institute in East Africa was opened in Uganda.
Burkina Faso is a landlocked country in West Africa, surrounded by six countries: Mali to the north; Niger to the east; Benin to the southeast; Togo and Ghana to the south; and Ivory Coast to the southwest.
Islam in Burkina Faso has a long and varied history. According to the 2010 census, about 62 percent of the country’s population is Muslim.
