TEHRAN (IQNA) – The 14th edition of Jordan’s international Quran competition for women will get underway in the Arab country today.

According to al-Dastoor daily, the Malik Muassis Mosque in the capital, Amman, will host the contest.

Thirty-three women Quran activists from different Muslim and European countries will be attending the Quranic event, which will run until Thursday.

According to Jordanian Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Abdul Nasser Abul Basal, a Palestinian representative from the holy city of Quds (Jerusalem) will be among the participants for the first time.

Iran will be represented by Fatemeh Shirazi, a memorizer of the entire Quran who came second in the country’s national Quran competition last year.

In 2018, Iran’s Maryam Shafiei, who is visually-impaired, won the third rank in Jordan’s 13th international Quran competition for women.

The Arab country’s international Quran contest for men will be held in the holy month of Ramadan (May-June).
