TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Afghan Taliban warned the country’s media to stop what the group called “anti-Taliban propaganda.

Taliban Spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement that if all the reporting against the group does not end within a week, all media staff in the capital, Kabul, and elsewhere in the country will be targeted and will have no immunity from Taliban attacks, Kashvar news reported.

He said some media outlets in Kabul and some provinces publish content in which the Taliban are defamed.

If such activities do not stop in a week, he warned, the Taliban will consider these outlets as espionage dens of the enemies and no one working in these centers will have security anymore.

The Taliban’s five-year rule over at least three quarters of Afghanistan came to an end following the US invasion in 2001, but 18 years on, the group still controls large swathes of land in the country.
