TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Philippines officially launched its official national 'Halal' logo.

Trade and Industry Secretary and Philippine Halal Export Development and Promotion Board Chairperson Ramon M. Lopez led the unveiling during the plenary session of the 2nd Philippine National Halal Conference held in Clark Freeport Zone.

“The conceptualization of the logo underwent various consultative meetings with relevant stakeholders, including Muslim religious groups conducted by the Halal Export Board-Technical Working Group,” Lopez said.

“We have made it one color to minimize cost in printing the labels, but it will be a full color rendition in printed materials,” he added, according to the Philippine Information Agency.

The use of the Philippine Halal Logo will be issued to a product or service compliant with the standards set by the Philippine National Halal Certification Scheme and other related laws. Philippine Accreditation Bureau will issue the logo.

Halal is an Arabic word that translates as "permissible" into English. It is a term designating any object or an action which is permissible to use or engage in, according to Islamic law.

Demands for Halal products and services have been rapidly growing worldwide in recent years, prompting even non-Muslim countries to tap into the huge global Halal market.
