TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas denounced criticized Israel’s decision to build 1,000 illegal settlements in the east of occupied Jerusalem al-Quds.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday, Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum said the move clearly violates international laws and UN Security Council Resolutions.

He added that such moves show that the Zionist regime of Israel will not be committed to international regulations until there is real punishment and deterrence, Sama News reported.

The Tel Aviv regime’s settlement building policy poses major challenges to all Palestinians and must be countered, he emphasized.

On Sunday, Jordan’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Deifallah Fayez also criticized Israel’s decision to establish 1,000 illegal settlements in the east of occupied Jerusalem.

The settlements are a violation of international law and weaken the two-countries solution chances, he said.

Fayez added that the implementation of this decision must be stopped immediately, calling on Israel to follow its obligations as the occupying power.
