Ayatollah Taskhiri Had A Quranic Character: Iran’s Culture Minister

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Abbas Salehi described late Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri as a Quranic character.

 

Speaking at a ceremony held via video link on Tuesday to mark the 40th day after the death of Ayatollah Taskhiri, Salehi said the Holy Quran was manifested in the cleric’s scholar life.

He spent years writing an interpretation of the Quran titled “Al-Mukhtasar al-Mufid fi Tafsir al-Quran al-Majid”, Salehi added.

He said it indicated his acquaintance with the Quran and is a great gift to the Muslim world.

The culture minister also highlighted late Ayatollah Taskhiri’s belief in dialogue and his efforts to promote it.

Ayatollah Taskhiri died of a heart attack in late August at the age of 76.

A renowned religious figure in the Muslim world, Ayatollah Taskhiri also served as head of the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization and advisor to the Leader on Muslim world affairs.

During the time he served as secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, he made great efforts towards reinforcing unity among Muslims.

He wrote and translated tens of books on Islam and the Muslim world.
