According to the organization, Sina Tabbakhi from East Azarbaijan province will compete for the country in the international event.
Tabbakhi is a memorizer of the entire Quran.
He was among 12 Quran memorizers who took part in a contest held earlier this month to select Iran’s representatives in international Quranic events.
Tabbakhi will leave for Zagreb on September 22, according to Hamid Majidimehr, an official with the Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
The 27th edition of Croatia’s international Quran competition will be held in late September.
It would be the first major international Quran contest that is organized in person since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
In the last edition, held in 2019, Iran’s representatives came first and second in the recitation and memorization categories respectively.
