TEHRAN (IQNA) – A mosque in Oldham is trying to raise £100,000 to repair sections damaged by Storm Eunice in February.

The storm toppled one of Greengate Jamia Masjid’s two minarets and left the other minaret unstable.

At the time, tarpaulins and water pumps had to be brought in to help battle the elements, amid widespread disruption across the country.

Just over £7,250 has been raised of the £100,000 goal on fundraising platform Givebrite.

Now, the mosque, located on Greengate Street, is planning a car wash fundraiser on Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19.

The car wash will be open from 11am until 6pm on both days – with all proceeds going to the mosque.

As well as the car wash, the mosque is planning a free-to-attend "Community Fun Fest" at the same time – which promises a barbecue as well as desserts, face painting, mehndi (henna), nasheeds, market stalls, a funfair, a bouncy castle, and ice cream.
