According to masjed-alkufa.net, the project began under the supervision of Seyyed Musa Taqi Al-Khalkhali, custodian of the mosque.
The Calligraphy section of the custodianship of the mosque and a number of eminent Iraqi calligraphers contribute to the project.
The main objective is to provide the pilgrims of the holy shrines with the copies in which the rules of writing Arabic alphabet have been observed so as to facilitate reading of the pilgrimage prayers.
Seyyed Hussein Al-Hulw, in charge of the section, said that among other activities of the section is to collect the manuscripts of the mosque to preserve them as a scientific, art and cultural heritage and a treasury of Arabic calligraphy.
The Calligraphy Section of Kufa Mosque has also cooperated in various national and international events.
The section organized an international calligraphy contest on the sidelines of Al-Safeer International Cultural Festival.
The section was invited by the OIC’s Research Center for History, Art and Culture (IRCICA) to participate in the International Congress of the center in Turkey.
