Special Programs Underway at Tehran’s Mosque During Month of Rajab

TEHRAN (IQNA) – During the month of Rajab in lunar Hijri calendar, special Quranic programs are held in mosques across Tehran province.

According to Hojat-ol-Islam Karami, deputy of the Iranian Center for Mosques Affairs, the programs are aimed at developing Quranic activities in mosques and paving the way for worshipers to establish stronger connection with the Holy Book.


He said they include courses featuring thematic interpretation of the Quran and Quran recitation sessions, Tasnim news agency reported.


Rajab is the seventh month of the Islamic lunar calendar. This year, it began on April 20 and will end on May 19.


The blessed month of Rajab is the first of the four sacred months of the Islamic Calendar, and has its own special virtues, since in this month the gates of divine mercy are opened for the believers.


It should be known that the month of Rajab, along with the following two months of Sha’ban and Ramadan, have an absolute excellence and there are many Hadiths which mention their virtues.


Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is reported to have said that “Surely, whoever fasts a day of Rajab secures Allah’s greatest pleasure, distances himself from the wrath of Allah, and one of the gates of hell is shut closed for him.”


It is related from the Prophet’s 7th Infallible Successor, Imam Musa Kazem (AS) “For those who fast a day of Rajab, the fire of hell recedes from them a distance of a year’s journey. And whoever fasts three days of Rajab is certain to enter Paradise.”
