According to al-Ray website, Kuwait’s Commercial Bank and the country’s Society for the Blind have contributed to the plan for publication of the Qurans.
Amani al-Wari, an official with the bank, said the distribution of the first series of Quran copies in Braille was received very well by the visually-impaired in Kuwait and other countries.
He said they have described the move as a positive step and a great service to the blind Muslims who want to read the Holy Book.
Braille is a writing system which enables the blind and partially-sighted people to read and write through touch.
It was invented by Louis Braille (1809-1852), who was blind and became a teacher of the blind.
In recent years, the Holy Quran and religious books have been printed in Braille to help the visually-impaired Muslims read the texts with ease.
