Iran’s Representatives in Students’ Quran Contest to Be Selected in 2 Weeks

According to Rahim Khaki, a supervisor of the contest, told IQNA that the technical committee will choose a memorizer of the entire Quran and a reciter to represent the Islamic Republic in the international Quranic event.

He said a team of experts with the technical committee were in Mashhad in the past few days to assess the qualifications of the participants in Iran’s 31st National Quran and Etrat Festival there and decide on the best memorizer and reciter who can compete for Iran in the international Quran contest.

Khaki went on to say that the committee will announce its final decision in two weeks.

The 6th International Quran Competition for Muslim Students is slated to be held in Mashhad, northeast of Iran, on January 30- February 3, 2017.

Quran memorizers and reciters from among Muslim university students of different countries are expected to take part in this edition of the contest.

The Iranian Academics Quranic Activities Organization, affiliated to the Iranian Academic Center for Education, Culture and Research, has organized the competition biennially since 2006 with the aim of fostering unity and cooperation among Muslim world students and elevating the level of Quranic activities.

In the previous edition of the event in January 2015, Iran’s representatives in both categories- memorization and recitation- won the top title.
