TEHRAN (IQNA) – A nationwide Quranic storytelling festival is set to be held in Iran with a focus on creating stories related to Quranic teachings.

A press conference was held on Monday in Iran’s Culture Ministry to discuss the plans for the upcoming festival.

The presser was attended by Alireza Moaf, the Quran and Etrat deputy of the ministry, as well as other officials.

A Quranic storytelling festival was earlier held in Khorasan Razavi province and the upcoming event will be the first one at the national level.

Mohammad Hosseinzadeh, head of the provincial department of the ministry in Khorasan Razavi, noted in the presser that storybooks are among the bestsellers in the market. “Meanwhile, we have great stories in the Quran, including those related to prophets and they can be presented in various forms.”

Another focus of the festival is using Quranic concepts such as honesty and trust to create stories, he said, adding that such a story can be a good medium for transferring Quranic teachings.

Also addressing the presser, Moaf pointed to the importance of storytelling in the Quran, adding, “God has used storytelling so why shouldn’t we?”

Those interested can send their stories to designated addresses in virtual platforms.
