TEHRAN (IQNA) – Some 50,000 Quran activists from 54 countries have participated in the 1st edition of the Rezwan Award that is organized by Astan Quds Razavi.

In an interview with IQNA, deputy international affairs of Astan’s scientific and cultural center, Hojat-ol-Islam Seyyed Mohammad Zolfaghari said that the aim of the event is to commemorate the position of Quran teachers.

“Teachers are one of the most important pillars of learning the Quran but no special event for them has been held so far,” he said.

Three groups of teachers, students, and institutes could go to the dedicated website or social media account to participate in the event by introducing Quranic teachers.

Participants with three languages of Persian, Arabic, and Urdu could attend this year’s event, he said.

Some 2,500 teachers registered themselves in the festival, he said, adding that more than 35,000 students introduced their favorite Quranic teachers while some 250 Quranic institutes also provided a list of their teachers.

The information provided by the participants, he continued, was sent to a panel of judges comprising experts from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Pakistan, and Afghanistan so that they can choose the top ranks according to defined criteria.

The closing ceremony of the Rezwan Award is set to be held in Mashhad on April 18 by awarding the top 10 teachers.
