TEHRAN (IQNA) – Hundreds of Quran memorizers were honored for their achievement in a ceremony in Egypt.

A large number of those interested in the Quran and Quranic activities attended the event, held in El Saff city in Giza Governorate, north of the country.

The Al-Imam Youth Quran Memorization Center organized the ceremony, in which 481 boys and girls were lauded for their Quranic accomplishment.

A delegation from Al-Azhar Islamic Center was also present at the gathering, according to El-Balad news website.

The young Quran memorizers received certificates of honor as they were being given a big hand by their family and other attending the event.

Such a ceremony is held every year by the Al-Imam Youth Quran Memorization Center with the participation of Al-Azhar scholars and political and religious figures.

Egypt is an Arab country in North Africa with a population of around 100 million.

Muslims account for around 90 percent of the country’s total population.

Quranic activities are very common in the Muslim-majority country and many of the Muslim world’s top qaris in the past and present have been Egyptian.
