TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Quran has stressed that the bond between spouses is a gift from God and not a human achievement.

This is according to Mohammad Ali Rezaei Esfahani, a scholar who made the remarks in a session focusing on social interpretation of the Holy Quran with “family in Quran” being its main topic. Here are excerpts from his speech:

According to Quran and hadiths, marriage is not only for procreation and continuation of human race, but also for creating harmony and peace in the world. Even if there were no religious texts about marriage, human reason would suggest it as a natural thing to do.

One of the benefits of marriage is that it strengthens one's faith and religion. There are many narrations that say that marriage completes half or two thirds of one's religion. Another benefit is that it produces more believers in the world who can spread the message of monotheism.

The Quran has stressed that the bond between spouses is a gift from God and not a human achievement. This bond can be enhanced by developing affection and love between them. Kindness and friendship are the foundations of human life.
