IQNA – A senior field commander of the Hezbollah resistance movement was reportedly martyred in an Israeli strike on southern Lebanon on Monday.

An Israeli strike on Lebanon

Security sources talking to Reuters identified him as Wissam al-Tawil, the deputy head of a unit within the elite Radwan force.

They said he and another Hezbollah fighter were killed when their car was hit in the strike on the Lebanese village of Majdal Selm.

Hebrew language Zionist outlets said that a prominent figure has been killed in today’s attack but that they are not authorized to publish details about the assassination.

Meanwhile, Lebanese sources said Monday that the Zionist regime’s army has targeted a number of areas in southern Lebanon with artillery and airstrikes.

The Israeli regime’s attacks have killed more than 130 Hezbollah fighters in southern Lebanon since Oct. 7.

Hezbollah has retaliated by launching missile attacks on the northern parts of the occupied territories.

On Sunday, the Israeli military admitted that a strategic air base on Mount Meron was “seriously damaged” in a missile attack launched by the Lebanese resistance movement, amid growing concerns in Tel Aviv over the group’s capabilities.

The regime’s military said that it is investigating the Saturday attack on the sensitive base in the northern part of the 1948-occupied territories to prevent similar attacks.

According to a video published by Hezbollah, the group fired a barrage of rockets and anti-tank missiles at the base, hitting two of the radar domes.

The Israeli media has reported that the occupying regime does not possess any systems to intercept the anti-tank missiles used by Hezbollah.
