IQNA – When the illuminating spirit of Ramadan truly permeates our society, it has the power to purify minds, almost as if giving people a new lease on life.

It’s important to understand that certain aspects of our world, including relationships and conditions, contribute to our growth. For instance, many societal laws are established for specific purposes. However, some of these established norms serve as bridges to development. Religious rituals and practices, for example, guide individuals towards developmental blessings and illuminate their path with truth.

There are numerous hidden blessings and secrets in the practices of Ramadan, whether it’s fasting, breaking the fast, or reciting prayers and supplications. Even seemingly mundane activities like sleeping and breathing, when done in the spirit of servitude and fasting, are considered acts of worship.

While lunch and dinner nourish our bodies, the meals consumed during Iftar and Suhoor (pre-dawn meal) guide us towards spiritual growth. These meals may seem ordinary, but their significance as Iftar and Suhoor elevates them to a divine level, purifying the soul and paving the way for greater enlightenment and spirituality. This includes the mysticism and spirituality recommended in the supplications recited during dawn, Iftar, and throughout the month.

Ramadan is a month of unity and monotheism, a time to set aside unnecessary worries, discomforts, and sorrows that cloud the human mind. If the light of Ramadan truly shines in our society, it has the power to cleanse minds and hearts, giving people a fresh start.

Particularly for those who have become vulnerable due to the complexities and social and cultural issues of the modern world, Ramadan offers a respite. It provides an opportunity to break free from unrest and impurities, and to momentarily set aside personal, social, and cultural problems.
